Following a recent public hearing, the Lawrenceville City Council approved a zoning change for a structure at 288 N. Clayton St. from single-family residential to central general business district with a restriction to prevent the space being used for retail space at this time.

The applicant, Jonathan Chae, noted his organization is making efforts to purchase several properties in the area of N. Clayton and Oak streets. Future requests of council for a possible mixed-use development or apartment community would occur if and when more parcels are obtained.

The property is currently developed with a single-family dwelling with parking at the rear. Lawrenceville approved the zoning change with restrictions that require the use of the existing structure, that the structure be brought up to current code, and for use of the structure as an office, daycare or school only.
