Divers were searching Thursday in 10 feet of water after a person discovered a car in Lake Lanier, a fire official said.

The car was found near Mountain View Park, which is off Browns Bridge Road, but Hall County fire Capt. Zachary Brackett said he didn’t think the car in the lake was the result of a vehicle accident.

As of Thursday about 4:45 p.m. divers had not found anyone inside and the car “looks clear of occupants,” Brackett said.

“A bystander at the park happened to see the reflection in the water,” Brackett said.

He said he didn’t know if the car ran off a nearby boat ramp.

An investigation will be conducted by the Hall Sheriff’s Office.
