Recreational use of Fayette County’s public lakes will now be permitted from sunrise to sunset at all locations. Previously, lake hours varied by site and ranged from 6:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. or 8:30 p.m., depending on the time of year.

A proposal to standardize lake hours in keeping with other county parks was originally made by Commissioner Steve Brown in September, but the measure was tabled to iron out details with Fayette’s water and recreation committees. The board discussed the changes at its Dec. 8 meeting, but no formal vote was necessary to enact the new hours.
