Cobb County police Friday released the identity of a woman killed Thursday night when the motorcycle on which she was a passenger collided with a sport utility vehicle.

The crash happened about 9 p.m. Thursday when a 1998 Ford Explorer driven by 18-year-old Darious Billberry turned left in front of a 2000 Yamaha motorcycle at the intersection of Cobb Parkway and Mack Dobbs Road in Kennesaw, Cobb police spokesman Joe Hernandez said.

The motorcycle struck the Explorer on the passenger side, and the SUV overturned.

A passenger on the Yamaha, Jessica Pruitt, 23, of Kennesaw, was taken taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, where she later died.

The motorcycle driver, Steven Pruitt, 25, of Kennesaw, was taken to WellStar Kennestone for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, Hernandez said.

Billberry, who is also from Kennesaw, was not injured in the collision, according to Hernandez.

He said the investigation is ongoing.
