Beginning Oct. 1, Kennesaw residents will pay more for their sanitation pickups and possibly more each year.

The Kennesaw City Council voted Sept. 5 to charge $14 per home per month with Republic Services remaining as the sanitation provider - the same provider since 2013. The Council also agreed to allow for annual rate increases by Republic Services without having to return to the Council for approval. By April each year, Republic Services must provide city officials with notice of an increase based on market pricing.

Also, upon resident request, Republic Services must replace 18-gallon bins with 95-gallon carts and be responsible for replacing any damaged carts.

For complaints, residents will need to call the city. Then city officials will send a daily spreadsheet to Republic Services with service-related complaints. Republic Services officials must respond to the city before the end of the next business day with the resolution for each item.
