There will be a new addition to Johns Creek traffic starting this week.
The city said on Facebook it is installing nine flashing yellow left-turn arrows on traffic signals along Medlock Bridge Road, Ga. 141, beginning Monday.
Flashing yellow left arrows mean drivers can turn left if the way is clear, but they must yield to crossing pedestrians and oncoming vehicles.
The city said these flashing arrows should reduce accidents and near-misses.

“Signals in opposite directions don’t always mirror each other, forcing motorists to guess whether oncoming cars will stop, yield, or keep driving. The flashing yellow arrow helps take the guesswork out of making left turns,” according to the Facebook post.
The arrows are going in at the following signals:
• Medlock Bridge Road at Hospital Parkway/East Johns Crossing
• Medlock Bridge Road at Johns Creek Parkway South
• Medlock Bridge Road at Bell Road
• Medlock Bridge Road at Abbotts Bridge Road
• Medlock Bridge Road at Skyway Drive/Abbotts Bridge Station
• Medlock Bridge Road at Parsons Road
• Medlock Bridge Road at Wilson Road
• Medlock Bridge Road at Medlock Bridge Parkway
• Medlock Bridge Road at Bobby Jones Drive

For years, officials have tried to improve the well-traveled Medlock Bridge Road. That includes a $3.9 million project to fix the "deteriorating" road. That's being paid with a mix of the state's maintenance fund and federal money.
And for those who could use a refresher, here’s what all the arrows mean:
• Solid red arrow — stop; no left turns allowed
• Solid yellow arrow — prepare to stop
• Flashing yellow arrow — left turns are allowed, but first yield to oncoming traffic and pedestrians.
• Solid green arrow — protected left turn; proceed with caution.
