Seeking a unique brand identity, the Johns Creek City Council has unanimously voted to adopt “a strategic focus on health care innovation and wellness” called “iHeart Johns Creek.”

“It is a natural strength of our city that we can become a health care innovation and wellness destination of choice,” said Johns Creek Mayor Mike Bodker.

In its iHeart resolution, the council noted the city already is home to many businesses and professionals in the health care and wellness industry, such as Emory Johns Creek Hospital, Alcon Laboratories, health-related start-ups, private medical practices, active adult and full-care facilities, and spiritual and physical wellness businesses.

The council directed staff to incorporate health and wellness into the city's strategic planning framework and seek "collaboration and partnerships" with local business and residential organizations, neighboring cities and other organizations. Information: http://iheartjc.com/

Officials credited a Johns Creek resident, Anand Thaker, with coming up with the concept and promoting it among city officials, local nonprofits and medical and business leaders in the community.

“The credit soley goes to Anand Thaker,” said Councilman Steve Broadbent. “Anand is one of those residents in Johns Creek who truly defines the phrase of what it means to ‘be the exception.’”
