The Johns Creek City Council has directed staff to move onto the concept/design/community input phase for the widening of Jones Bridge Road between Waters and State Bridge roads.

The council approved spending $200,000 on a study that will look at widening Jones Bridge to four lanes, and possible alternatives. One idea under consideration has been a three-lane road with a center turn lane.

“Staff recommends moving forward with the authorization of the four-lane alternative to concept/design,” Public Works Director Lynette Baker said in an agenda report to the council. “This alternative solves all of the roadway’s challenges that include capacity, congestion, operations and safety.”

The road widening is a TSPLOST project estimated to cost $11 million. Information: https://bit.ly/2Qqvwtb
