About 600 people showed up at public meeting kicking off Decatur’s 10-year plan for its city.

The city’s strategic plan will incorporate resident ideas and themes, for what action and ordinances Decatur should take over the next decade. The city accomplished 80 percent of the goals and ideas from its most recent plan, for 2000 to 2010.

Residents can participate in three round table discussions, to get their ideas heard. An outside consultant will tabulate those comments and prepare a draft plan by late this summer.

Those interested in joining the process should call the city at 678-553-6384.
