Thanksgiving means turkey and dressing and yam and — have mercy on all of us and the future generations — sweet potato souffle.

But the holiday is also known to shake up a schedule or two, as evidenced by the shift in garbage pickup around DeKalb County.

Folks who get their trash, recyclables and yard trimmings picked up by the county sanitation department Monday through Wednesday will see no change, according to the county. Those who get pickup on Thursday — Thanksgiving Day — will have to wait until Friday. Residents whose pickup is normally Friday will instead wait until Saturday.

The sanitation division’s administrative office will be closed on Thursday and Friday. The central and north transfer stations and Seminole Road Landfill will be closed Thursday, but open on Friday.
