A high school soccer player from metro Atlanta was killed in a Fourth of July crash in Dawson County, and state troopers suspect the driver of the other vehicle may have been under the influence of alcohol.
Eliza Farrell, 15, of Suwanee, died about 9:25 p.m. Tuesday in a two-car crash near the North Georgia Premium Outlets in Dawsonville, the Georgia State Patrol said Thursday.
No one has been charged in connection with the wreck.
Eliza was a member of the Lambert High School junior varsity soccer team in Forsyth County, Channel 2 Action News reported.
“Eliza was a wonderful young lady who exemplified the best that Lambert strives,” Lambert principal Gary Davison said. “She was kind, well liked, hard working. We will greatly miss her. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.”
According to the GSP, Brayden Lewis Clark was driving south on Lumpkin Campground Road in a 2011 Dodge Ram truck. About the same time, Farrell was riding in a 2006 Acura that was heading west on Industrial Park Road.
The Acura stopped at a stop sign at Lumpkin Campground Road and tried to go through the intersection, the GSP said. The truck didn’t stop at the sign and hit the Acura on the passenger side.
Farrell died at the scene, the GSP said. Clark, 21, of Loganville, was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. His condition was unknown.
Xavier Sanchez, 16, was driving the Acura, according to the GSP. Rachel Rajczak and Kevin Arias were the other passengers. Authorities have not released details about their conditions or the ages of Rajczak and Arias.
The investigation is ongoing, the GSP said.
