Cobb schools return to action Aug. 1, a Wednesday.

Sure, it’s all popsicles and fogged-up swim goggles now, but classes at Cobb County schools are coming up fast.

The first day of classes is Aug. 1, a Wednesday. To register, your student must be between the ages of 5 and 17 on Sept. 1.

Students who are starting kindergarten or are enrolling in a Cobb County School District school for the first time need to register. You can learn more about that here.

For new students entering elementary and middle schools, there will be an open house registration day Wednesday where school staff members will be on campus to help folks register, said Nan Kiel, with the school district communications staff. For details, call the school.

If you miss that day, don’t worry. “Some may do it on the first day of school and others may schedule appointments,” she said.

As for high-school-age students coming to Cobb schools for the first time, registration is by appointment only. Kiel said parents should call the specific school for more information.
