There are more places to eat in Dunwoody than Perimeter Mall.
That's the message that Discover Dunwoody, which markets the city as a tourist destination, wants to impart on visitors. The organization recently created the "Dunwoody Market Trail," a list of restaurants and shops that are "unexpected" and popular among local residents.
“While Dunwoody has long been known for Perimeter Mall, which is the second largest mall in the region, our city has so many incredible people, places and stories that go beyond the expected,” Kimberly Franz, the marketing director for Discover Dunwoody, said in a statement. “Many of the stops along our new Dunwoody Market Trail are family-owned and operated, and favorites of the community.”

Making the stops can be done all in one go, or on separate days. Here are the dining destinations that Discover Dunwoody promoted for the trail:
- Alon's Bakery & Market, 4505 Ashford Dunwoody Road. Known for its selection of breads and freshly prepared dishes, Alon's is a popular Perimeter Center destination for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
- Zukerino Pastry Shop, 2230 Cotillion Dr. This neighborhood bakery is owned by Soula Levendakis and "Theo" Kazazakis, a couple originally from Greece, and offers baked goods like breads, pastries and cakes.
- E. 48th Street Market, 2462 Jett Ferry Road. Inspired by classic New York neighborhood marketplaces, E. 48th Street Market serves Italian specialty foods like sausages and pasta, and sells goods like traditional olive oils and fine Italian wines.
- Dunwoody Farmers Market, 4770 N. Peachtree Road. Residents and visitors can purchase fresh seasonal produce, free-range meats, coffee and cheeses and more from various vendors at the farmers market, located at the front of Brook Run Park.
- Nell's Produce Market. Discover Dunwoody called Nell's a "Dunwoody staple," known for its white and red tent. The market rotates its produce selection seasonally and gets new deliveries every day, selling fresh fruits and vegetables.
- Café Intermezzo, 4505 Ashford Dunwoody Road. A popular eatery in Perimeter Center, Café Intermezzo promotes a menu of Italian desserts and drinks. Servers will take patrons on a "tour" of the available cakes, tarts, cheesecakes and pies. Its 50-page beverage book offers coffee, tea, beer, wine and liquors.
