A revised code of conduct currently under public review and is to be considered by the Henry County Board of Education for adoption at its May 11 meeting.

Among the significant changes is a new section that provides specific consequences for vaping, which is in response to considerable concerns raised by district officials and parents alike regarding the rise in vaping among students. The code also calls for an improved early response to bus drivers along with strengthened consequences for bus conduct. Some new flexibility has also been added to the code with regard to minor offenses, starting with what officials have designated “level 1” offenses, and there is clearer alignment for consequences with age appropriateness, according to officials.

The detailed document can be found on the school district’s website, and feedback is being received and considered until May 8.
