A total of 37 voting precincts are now located throughout Henry County, none of which are in schools, according to a report given by the elections superintendent at the Board of Commissioners’ Aug. 6 regular meeting.

The county has transitioned all polling places out of school in advance of this fall’s elections because of concerns over student safety, voter accessibility, parking constraints and the overall shift in voting areas. In 2018 three of the five elections were held when children were at school. Officials urged voters inside the county’s four cities to take advantage of early voting, which begins Oct. 14, because those who wait until the Nov. 5 election day will have to vote in two locations to participate in municipal as well as county elections.

All ballots, city and county, can be cast in one visit during early voting, which will be available at five locations around the county. There are currently more than 175,000 registered voters in Henry County.
