Henry County District Attorney’s Darius Pattillo’s office is beefing up its Crimes Against Children/Domestic Violence Unit, having this month announced the addition of a second prosecutor, a second investigator and a paralegal to bring the total unit staff to six.

The group is tasked with prosecuting “child molestation, child abuse and serious domestic violence cases,” according to a statement released Sept. 9. The unit also includes three certified members of the national Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, which investigates online human trafficking and child pornography.

The unit’s two assistant district attorneys together have more than 33 years of experience practicing law, as well as two investigators with 60 years combined of law enforcement experience. In addition to prosecuting cases, the Crimes Against Children/Domestic Violence Unit works with law enforcement, community organizations and schools to educate the community on child abuse, domestic violence and crime prevention.
