The Hapeville Planning Commission will consider an amendment to an ordinance during the regular meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Hapeville City Hall, 700 Doug Davis Drive. The amendment is to the wording of an ordinance to rename Dearborn Plaza. The Mayor and Council of Hapeville proposed that the plaza be renamed “Samuel Hape Plaza.” Hapeville is named for Dr. Samuel Hape, a civil war veteran and the town’s first mayor.

The process for renaming the property is outlined within Hapeville city law. Once the planning commission votes to adopt the renaming, the city council will vote on whether to approve it, then the city clerk would, upon approval, certify the renaming.
