An 18-year-old Duluth High School student has been charged in connection with two sexual assaults, Duluth police said.
Chris Shon Da Vell Carter has been charged in an alleged gang rape of a teenage girl with special needs and the alleged sexual assault of a 15-year-old female classmate.

The alleged assault of the teenager with special needs occurred on March 3. The alleged sexual assault at Duluth Town Green occurred on March 13, according to police.
The March 13 incident allegedly began when Carter and the victim walked from Duluth High School to the Town Green. They entered a restroom at the park and began kissing consensually, but Carter began to press the girl to “go further,” a police report says.
Carter forcibly removed the victim’s shirt and bra and tried to put his hands down her pants, a police report says. The victim said “No,” pushed Carter’s hands away and put her clothes back on. When the victim tried to exit the bathroom, Carter said she couldn’t leave and “aggressively” pulled her towards him and again forcibly removed her clothes, the report says.
The victim continued to protest, but Carter took her cell phone “so she could not leave,” the report says. Carter then attempted to force the victim to perform sex acts, according to the report.
When he eventually let her leave the restroom, the victim had to ask Carter to use his phone to call her parents.

She reported the assault to a counselor at her school two days later, on March 15, and the counselor contacted police. Carter was arrested that evening shortly before 9:30 p.m.
He was initially released on $9,050 bond a week later, but was rebooked into jail on April 13, when he was charged with the March 3 gang-rape of the girl with special needs.
Carter is now being held at the Gwinnett County Detention Center without bond on charges of sexual battery against a child under 16, child molestation and theft by taking in the March 13 case; and rape, aggravated sodomy and false imprisonment in the March 3 case.
