The Gwinnett Place Community Improvement District will begin work on two major road projects near the mall.
Officials said they will begin engineering work to widen and relocate Venture Drive between Steve Reynolds Boulevard and Pleasant Hill Road. In addition, the CID is seeking up to $2.5 million in grant funds from the Georgia Transportation Infrastructure Bank to redesign the Gwinnett Place Drive/Venture Drive intersection at Pleasant Hill.
A second major project involves replacing the Pleasant Hill Road bridge over I-85 to increase its capacity. The CID secured the services of the URS Corp. to begin the preliminary engineering for the project.
The CID is also pursuing grant funds for three more projects: $2.1 million for the planned phase 3 of pedestrian improvements along Pleasant Hill Road;$1.7 million for the planned phase 2 of the Satellite Boulevard and Transit Center pedestrian connects; and funding for a feasibility study or plan for an overpass north of Pleasant Hill Road to connect Venture Parkway and Breckinridge Boulevard.
