Update (4/1/20): The boil water advisory for the Norris Lake area of Gwinnett County has been rescinded, the county water department said.
Residents should flush their plumbing before using water. To do so, run sink and shower faucets on each floor of the home for five minutes.
Original story (3/31/20): Gwinnett County has issued a boil water advisory for a community at its southern tip because of a water main break.
The advisory covers multiple streets in the Norris Lake area, near Snellville and in the southernmost part of Gwinnett sanwiched between DeKalb and Rockdale counties. Residents in the affected area should not drink the water or wash dishes cook, make ice, brush teeth or prepare baby food with it unless boiled for at least one minute.

The water is safe for handwashing, bathing and using the toilet. Residents should be mindful not to ingest any unboiled water coming from their pipes until the advisory is lifted.
The county announced he advisory at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. The cause was a water main break in the area, according to Gwinnett Water Resources.
The water department will post a notice at GwinnettH2O.com when the advisory has been lifted and the water is safe to consume.
