Come May, keeping track of the hours at Gwinnett County's 15 library branches will be much simpler.

The county announced this week plans to transition to a consistent schedule across all library locations, a departure from the last several years when budget and staffing constraints forced the library system to put staggered -- and often confusing -- hours of operation in place at different branches.

On Monday, May 16, the following hours will go into effect at all branches:

• Monday through Thursday: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

• Friday and Saturday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• Sunday: Noon to 5 p.m.

The new schedule also adds seven additional open hours at each branch, officials said.

"We no longer need to memorize complicated sets of hours," library executive director Charles Pace said in a news release. "By adjusting staff schedules and our service model, we're able to increase library access to the community while providing more morning and evening hours for our patrons."
