The Lawrenceville City Council voted recently to allow an appeal by the Golden Krust restaurant on West Pike Street to place a small storage shed at the rear of the restaurant for dry goods storage. Architectural standards for new buildings in this business district require the use of brick, stone, stucco, glass or architectural block as exterior finish materials. The appeal was needed to allow the use of wood siding.
The approved pre-fabricated wood building will be restricted to 6-feet by 14-feet and eight feet in height, with a pitched roof of asphalt shingles. The building will be behind the restaurant, adjacent to the existing walk-in freezer. At this location, the storage building will not be readily visible from Pike Street.
Approval came with the added conditions that the building be painted dark brown to match the walk-in freezer, and existing shrubs removed for placement of the storage building be replaced with the same number and type, planted around the base of the new building to obscure sight of the building from the street. The restaurant must also install four trees and 12 evergreen shrubs.
The approval is non-transferrable to any new owner of the property.
