Georgia Public Broadcasting is launching a new monthly magazine on July 1 titled, GPB Encore, according to a press release. The new publication will be distributed via mail to GPB donors in partnership with Encore Atlanta, a magazine that focuses on the arts in the southeast’s largest city. It connects millions of Georgians every day through television, radio, digital initiatives, and innovative educational programming.
The July premiere issue will feature the cover story American Experience: The Vote, a new four-hour, two-part documentary series that tells the dramatic story of the epic and surprisingly unfamiliar crusade waged by American women for the right to vote and political power.
Additional July programming includes, the annual, A Capitol Fourth, that will air on our nation’s 244th birthday, 8 p.m. July 4 and will celebrate forty spectacular years on air, with an all-star musical extravaganza with performances from top artists, iconic moments from the concert’s forty-year history, a salute to our military heroes of every generation and a special tribute to those on the front lines in the fight against the coronavirus (COVID-19). Two-time Emmy Award-nominated actor and producer John Stamos will be back to host along with the National Symphony Orchestra.
Previously, GPB was producing a bi-monthly newsletter that was mailed to its donors, and many of them expressed the desire for expanded information and more frequent programming updates.
GPB will craft the editorial and program design each month, while Encore Atlanta will sell advertising for the new publication.
Encore Atlanta owner/publisher, Brantley Manderson shared, “ Encore Atlanta is thrilled to have been chosen to partner with GPB in this endeavor and we view this opportunity as the perfect brand alignment. There are numerous similarities between the GPB audience and donors and our audience that attend the symphony, opera, ballet and theatre where Encore Atlanta is distributed - a natural fit. My team looks forward to growing our reach in Atlanta and around our state with GPB Encore . This partnership affords us the ability to deliver the incredible content that GPB produces that reflects our region’s culture and community-minded Georgians.”
