Georgia Gwinnett College won't open until 10 a.m. Tuesday due to a threat of ice, the school tweeted Monday afternoon.

Classes beginning before 10 a.m. will not convene due to the delay, and college offices will be closed until 10 a.m.

“Patchy black ice” is expected to form on metro Atlanta roads overnight, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brad Nitz. Precipitation is expected to persist through midnight, and temperatures could dip below freezing in the hours before sunrise.

Gov. Nathan Deal announced Monday that state government buildings and offices will also delay opening until 10 a.m. for all non-essential personnel. Georgia Gwinnett College decided to adopt the same delay, and linked to Deal’s declaration in announcing the time change.

Cobb County government and Kennesaw State University also delayed their Tuesday start times. Gwinnett County government has not announced any delay as of 4:30 p.m.
