The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office said the final two four-legged members of the K-9 unit will now be equipped with bullet- and stab-proof protective vests.

Edd and Lycan will acquire the gear in eight to ten weeks thanks to a donation by Massachusetts-based nonprofit Vested Interest in K9s Inc. and sponsored by Cumming resident Joe Radack.

The vests cost between $1,800 and $2, 200 and come with a five-year warranty.
