As part of its COVID-19 response, Forsyth County is postponing all non-essential meetings and activities other than regular meetings and public hearings of the Board of Commissioners, temporarily closing its senior and recreation centers, and postponing community events.

“After careful consideration, we have made the decision to close these facilities as well as postpone or cancel specific public events with the well-being of our residents in mind,” said Forsyth Commission Chairman Laura Semanson. “We encourage residents to follow CDC guidelines to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.”

Senior centers and recreation centers closed Friday and are scheduled to reopen Monday, March 30. Recreation classes are postponed, athletic complexes are closed, and all games are canceled or postponed.

The county also is postponing public information open houses at Matt Community Park and the Sawnee Mountain Preserve, March 26; and the Great FoCo Cleanup, March 21, and Senior Expo, April 18.
