The Taj Mahal is up for sale.
The former Marietta strip club will be on the auction block next week. And the dance floor is included.
The former Taj Mahal and Vegas Nights on Cobb Parkway is set to be sold at 10 a.m. Jan. 12, following the bidding presentation at 9 a.m., the J.L. Todd Auction Company announced.
Located on more than 3.5 acres, the 22,000-square foot building was an auto dealership from 1985 until 1992. The following year, the building was renovated into a two-level nightclub, complete with bars and lounge space.
At the time, the Taj Mahal was one of the largest strip clubs in the Southeast. But during the summer of 1998, Marietta began enforcing its anti-nudity ordinance and the club was forced to close in July. Later that fall, the club re-opened as Vegas Nights, planned as a couples dance hall. The property was foreclosed on several years ago.
The property, which is zoned for commercial retail, and building will be sold "as is."
