Financial technology giant NCR on Tuesday unveiled a first look at its planned Midtown Atlanta corporate headquarters.

The 485,000-square-foot tower, a design that’s likely about 20-stories, will rise at 8th and Spring Street in Midtown near Georgia Tech’s Technology Square. The project will go before a Special Public Interest development review committee meeting at 5 p.m. today in Midtown at 999 Peachtree Street

Last week, NCR and Atlanta-based Cousins Properties announced a deal on a 15-year lease with extension options for NCR to fill the tower. The property also has space for a potential second office building, Cousins CEO Larry Gellerstedt has said.

Cousins expects to break ground on the $200 million building early next year, with an opening slated by early 2018. City leaders have described the project as having a total development value of $260 million that could rise to more than $300 million.

NCR is best known for making ATMs and cash registers, but the company is changing into more of a software business, and the new facility is part of NCR Chairman and CEO Bill Nuti’s plan to tap into talent at Georgia Tech.

The company also has been subject to reports of potential asset sales or buyout overtures, something the company has declined to comment about.

Duda Paine Architects, designer of the Terminus office towers in Buckhead, which the project shares a resemblance, will be the building architect. Gensler, a global design firm, will design the project’s interiors.
