The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation has awarded a $15,561 grant to the Forsyth County Fire Department to purchase additional rescue equipment, the county announced.

The grant will be used to purchase 75 rapid-rescuer personal flotation devices and 45 standard rescue bags, officials said. The Forsyth Board of Commissioners approved accepting the award at its Aug 21 work session.

“With all of the access to water recreation areas we have in Forsyth, we knew that it would be good for our department to have additional rapid rescuer personal flotation devices for our first responders,” said Forsyth County Fire Division Chief Jason Shivers.
