Henry County Fire Department personnel are moving back behind their original location in temporary housing to be closer the community they serve and protect.

Plans and funding for a temporary fire station were approved last October by the Board of Commissioners after it was discovered that Fire Station No. 8 was in disrepair and was no longer safe as a housing structure for firefighters and emergency responders. Since that time, fire and rescue crews have been temporarily housed at surrounding fire stations until the new structure could be built. Fire crews have now moved into the temporary fire station and District II Commissioner Dee Clemmons, along with residents, hosted a “welcome back” for the firefighters and an open house for the community to come and tour the facility. The station is located at 103 Vincent Avenue, just off Flippen Road a block north of Hudson Bridge Road, in Stockbridge.
