Seven people had to leave their Duluth home Thursday night after a fire broke out in the master bedroom.

The blaze started in the upstairs master bedroom of the home on the 2400 block of Stonebridge Lane, Gwinnett Fire Capt. Tommy Rutledge said.

Fire crews were able to contain the flames to that room, Rutledge said. The rest of the second floor was moderately damaged from the smoke and heat, he said.

The seven people in the home were downstairs at the time and escaped from the house when the smoke detector went off, Rutledge said.

No one was hurt, he said.

The cause of the fire is being investigated. Rutledge said a preliminary investigation shows the cause may be electrical.
