Fayette County is repealing the Stormwater Utility it established in 2012 to collect fees to pay for the repair and replacement of stormwater infrastructure.

The Board of Commissioners voted 5-0 Tuesday to dissolve the utility, which had collected nearly $2.7 million from about 17,000 property owners in the unincorporated areas of the county. Revenue from the six-year Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax, which voters approved in March, will fund pending maintenance. The repeal measure will still allow the county to pursue collection of nearly $400,000 in delinquent fees.
