Fayette County public schools and administrative offices will remain closed through at least March 20 in keeping with coronavirus precautions.

The shutdown applies to all school programming, including classes, sports, extracurricular practices, facility rentals and weekend events. Teachers will contact students and parents regarding instructions and assignment for virtual learning. Parents of students in pre-K, kindergarten and first grade will receive a list of non-digital activities as well as digital resources. Staff will be on modified work schedules. Families who need meal assistance for any students age 18 and under while schools are closed can come to Spring Hill Elementary and North Fayette Elementary 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday-Friday; food will be distributed using a drive-through service.

The county says no students or staff within the system have reported cases of COVID-19; notification about further closures will be made by noon on Thursday.
