FAMU drum major-band member Robert Champion mourned

The 26-year-old was found dead on Nov. 19 on a bus parked outside an Orlando, Fla. hotel after the school's football team lost to a rival. Authorities suspect hazing but have not released any further details.

Robert Champion Sr., left, and his wife, Pam wait to lead a procession into the funeral service for their son. Champion's family has hired an attorney to represent them in a pending lawsuit against FAMU and Julian White, the long-time band director who was dismissed this week, has hired an attorney to win his job back.

Champion is a Southwest DeKalb High School grad. At FAMU, he was a music major who had served as one of six drum majors since 2010.

Champion performed at FAMU's last home game on Nov. 5.
