A new exhibit inspired by the "process and philosophy of recycling" has come to Gallery 72, according to a press release.

"Trash: The Art of Recycle" includes sculptural works by artist Steve Steinman, a retired university dean who designed and produced the art for the Buckhead MARTA station, before the Olympics in 1996.

Steinman’s work in the new exhibit “focuses on the art of reuse, renewal and recycling,” he said in a statement.

“The natural world has inspired people since the beginning of time, primarily through its beauty and power,” Steinman said. “However, in the past one hundred years, man’s pursuit of manufacturing for mass consumerism has threatened the planet, with waste from disposable goods now a top environmental and political priority,”

The exhibit at the city of Atlanta’s art gallery, at 72 Marietta Street NW, runs from Thursday through Jan. 11. An opening reception will be held Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m.
