Bulloch Hall's 38th annual Great American Cover-Up Quilt Show starts Friday with 182 quilts displayed throughout the historic home in Roswell.
This year’s show is the traveling exhibit, “Inspired by endangered species, Animals and Plants in Fabric Perspectives.” Quilter and collector Donna DeSoto, of Fairfax, Virginia, curated the show. DeSoto’s goal is to raise awareness of endangered plants and animals, according to the Bulloch Hall Quilt Guild.
The quilts were previously displayed at the International Quilt Show in Houston, Texas and the Library of Congress in Washington D.C.
A book of quilt images by DeSoto of the same title accompanies the exhibit. It’s one in a series of her “Inspired by” books with a companion quilt show.
"Two years ago we featured her quilts that were inspired by National Parks," said Holly Anderson, a local quilt guild member.
The show runs Friday through Sunday, March 15. Hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. except on Sundays, when they are noon-4 p.m. Tickets cost $7.
Bulloch Hall is the childhood home of Mittie Bulloch, mother of former U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt.
