The Fayette County Board of Commissioners recognized Eagle Scout Samuel H. Snyder at its Sept. 27 meeting for his leadership on a project to expand facilities at the county animal shelter.

Shelter Director Jerry Collins praised Snyder for overseeing the construction of a 20-by-24-foot covered pavilion that will allow shelter dogs to get outdoor exercise while their indoor runs are being cleaned. The project took 10 months and many volunteer hours to complete, and was financed with a $10,000 donation from John and Carol Hudson.

The county said the pavilion “can be used by the shelter for many years to come.”
