Maintenance partners with the Georgia Department of Transportation will put single lane closures in place along Interstate 985 near Buford to remove roadside vegetation. The contract for the project dictates work must begin on or before April 16 and is expected to be complete by Nov. 12. Lane closures will occur between 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The closures will occur on northbound and southbound I-985 between just north of the Ga. 20/Buford Drive exit and just north of the Ga. 347/Friendship Road exit.

Crews will need the closures to remove trees and other vegetation from the shoulders of the highway. All trees less than 50 feet from the shoulder will be removed in order to enhance traffic safety. As always, this work takes place weather permitting.
