One driver was killed and another seriously injured in a wreck Wednesday in northern Paulding County.

The vehicles collided around 5:30 p.m. in the 2700 block of Cedarcrest Road, the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office reported. The impact killed a man driving a blue sedan and seriously injured a woman driving a silver SUV. She was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital.

The crash, near the Seven Hills/Bentwater communities, created such a traffic backup that Paulding County’s emergency operations center broadcast an advisory asking motorists to avoid the area.

The Georgia State Patrol, which is investigating the wreck, had not released the motorists’ names late Wednesday.
