Can a phone number be cursed?
A cell phone company has suspended a number after the last three people assigned the number died, according to the Daily Telegraph of London. A spokesman for the company, Mobitel, wouldn't confirm the reason, telling the newspaper it does not discuss individual numbers.
According to the Telegraph, the first owner, Vladimir Grashnov, former CEO of Mobitel, died of cancer in 2001 at age 48. There were rumors his cancer was caused by a business rival using radioactive poisoning, the Telegraph said.
Bulgarian mafia boss Konstantin Dimitrov was the next person assigned the number. He was gunned down in 2003 on a trip to the Netherlands to inspect his "drug smuggling empire," the Telegraph said.
The number then passed to corrupt businessman Konstantin Dishliev, who was killed outside an Indian restaurant in Bulgaria in 2005, according to the Telegraph.
Callers to the number now get a recorded message saying the phone is "outside network coverage," the Telegraph said.
