Correction note: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated that Myron Broome was fired.

The principal of Mary McLeod Bethune Middle has resigned after allegations surfaced that he groped another educator at an event, according to Channel 2 Action News.

Myron Broome had been drinking but denied he was drunk when he allegedly touched the woman’s breasts and hips, according to information obtained by the news station. The misconduct, which Broome denied, happened at a hotel lounge in Macon, where educators were attending a conference in October.

He was removed from his duties on paid leave after the district learned of the allegations and launched an investigation.

The district told Channel 2 it intends to report the matter to the state agency that licenses educators.

Efforts to reach Broome by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution weren’t immediately successful Friday.
