DeKalb County school officials will hold a groundbreaking ceremony Thursday at a massive 24-acre Doraville park for the site of the new Pleasantdale Elementary School, school officials announced.

The school is currently located at 3695 Northlake Drive in Doraville but will relocate to a new facility, which will sit on a portion of Pleasantdale Park. The ceremony is at 10 a.m.

Last year, the DeKalb County Board of Education purchased a 7.35-acre chunk of the park from DeKalb County for $3,226,650. Of that amount, $180,000 was set aside for construction of a parking lot at Pleasantdale that will be used jointly by the school and the park.
