Marietta police said Friday that the drowning of a 3-year-old boy in a neighborhood lake two weeks ago was an accident.

The investigation is complete, cops said, and no charges were announced. Police said early that there were no signs of foul play.

The boy's mother was reported him as missing at 3:08 p.m. on April 4.

She told a dispatcher that her son had disappeared from the 1250 West Apartments on Powder Springs Street.

Thirty minutes later, law enforcement and fire officials found him alive but in bad shape in Reeves Lake near the shoreline. The apartment complex butts up against the water.
