Few details have emerged more than a week after a woman was found dead outside a notoriously crime-ridden DeKalb County condominium complex.

Shaniqua Law, 41, was fatally stabbed on Nov. 21 inside a vacant building at the Brannon Hill condominiums. Police have not identified a suspect in Law's killing, DeKalb County police Sgt. Jacques Spencer said Thursday, and don't yet know what led to the killing.

A man inside the upstairs area of the building told police he’d seen Law, known to him as “Shonuff,” earlier that afternoon but was not in the area when she was killed.

DeKalb police declined to comment on many aspects of the case as the investigation is ongoing.

Investigators previously told the AJC they believe Law was killed inside the vacant building, which was likely used as shelter. Temperatures that night were in the 30s.

A police report obtained this week details the night Law was found.

According to the report, two men with cellphone lights flagged down an EMS worker and led him to Law. The woman was found near a bloodstain on the sidewalk. A pair of women’s shoes was located on a set of nearby steps.

The first responder told police that paramedics did not feel safe at the building and relocated Law to an Office Depot on Memorial Drive, about two minutes from where she was found.

Police said she was dead at the scene.

At the crime scene, blood was found on the floor leading to the stairs and on the floor of the front room, according to the police report.

One of the rooms had a “substantial amount of blood” and is believed to be where the attack occurred, according to the report.

Built in 1973, the Brannon Hill condos have a reputation for crime, so much so that  DeKalb County was granted a court order two years ago to demolish damaged buildings on the property.

Days after the court order was granted, two teens allegedly shot and killed a man at the complex on Thanksgiving 2016.

Since then, at least 150 units at the complex have been torn down. In June, the county hosted a community clean up day at the complex.

The county expects to have the remaining 40 units, housed in two buildings, demolished in 2019, spokesman Andrew Cauthen said in an email.
