Gwinnett County police are searching for a suspect who allegedly took hundreds of dollars in cash from a store’s safe.

The suspect waked into the Family Dollar on Jimmy Carter Boulevard in Peachtree Corners on June 16 and made a purchase that required a cashier to open the safe to make change. The suspect left the store with his item, but returned shortly after. While the cashier was away from the safe, the suspect opened the safe, which was not locked, and took $600 from inside.

The cashier told police the suspect may work at a nearby Popeye’s restaurant, as he is “always in the area” and she previously saw him working at the restaurant, according to a police report. Police described the suspect as having a mustache and a slender build.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact Gwinnett County detectives at 770-513-5300 or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477. Crime Stoppers tips may be rewarded with up to $2,000 if they lead to an arrest or indictment.
