Employees at the Publix on Duluth Highway called police around 10 p.m. Aug. 1, reporting a robbery. A man wearing a fake mustache, a Braves hat and all-black clothing had come to the register with a basket of groceries and asked for a manager. When the manager came to the register, the man gave her a note demanding she give him money from the store’s safe, a police report says.

When the manager went to get the money, the man pointed a gun at the cashier, the report says. The cashier ran out of the building, shouting for everyone to leave, when the manager came back with the money. The cashier also chased the man when he left the building with the money.

Police found the cashier a few blocks away shortly after the robbery, and the cashier pointed out what she believed to be the man’s car, a black sedan. Police arrested Alexander two days later at a Norcross motel.

After the July 13 robbery in Henry County, police identified Alexander as the suspect and said he drove a black Ford 500. More than $17,000 was stolen in the Henry County robbery. Police reports didn’t say how much Alexander allegedly stole from the Lawrenceville store.
