Police said the alleged rape occurred around 3 a.m. March 2 in the parking lot of the Zaxby’s restaurant at 743 Pleasant Hill Road in Lilburn. The victim and Powers had a previous relationship, Lilburn Police Chief Bruce Hedley said.

“This was not a random assault,” Hedley said.

Police didn’t release much information about the incident because it is still being investigated. The victim reported the alleged attack on March 5.

Powers is being held at the Gwinnett County Detention Center without bond.
