Beginning Feb. 4, visitors coming to the Cobb Government Building near the Marietta Square will notice new security procedures.

Noncounty employees will need to enter the building through the second-floor entrance off Cherokee Street, according to a county statement.

Screeners at the security checkpoint will be officers from the Cobb County Police Department and deputies from the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office.

The security checkpoint also will be operated during evening meetings and events at the 100 Cherokee Street building.

This building will join others in the downtown Marietta government complex that already have these security measures in place.
