Cobb County School Board members on Thursday will discuss the start date for the upcoming school year.

Board members will hold a called virtual meeting Thursday at 4 p.m. to review when students will have to report for class for the 2020-21 school year.

The current start date is Aug. 3, and the school district has released its reopening plan for the upcoming year. This plan calls for parents choosing the in-person or virtual class option for their children on July 2-10 through the district's ParentVue system. Parents who choose the traditional option will also be asked if they want their child to ride the school bus.

Parents who select remote learning will have to certify to the school system that they have a computer and an internet connection and that they will commit to following through with this option for the first semester.

The meeting will be live-streamed on the school district's website.
