The Cobb County Sheriff’s Office staff is offering free gun safety classes four times this year.

Dates and locations will be:

  • 6-8 p.m. April 19. Fair Oaks Community Center, 1465 W. Booth Extension, Marietta.
  • 6-8 p.m. June 21. Windy Hill Community Center, 1885 Roswell St., Smyrna.
  • 6-8 p.m. Sept. 13. Ron Anderson Community Center, 3820 Macedonia Road, Powder Springs.
  • 6-8 p.m. Oct. 11. Boots Ward Recreation Center, 4845 Dallas Highway, Powder Springs.

During these classes, learn about gun safety and storage, gun types, choosing the right gun, gun ownership/transfer laws, use of force, firearm alternatives, Georgia Weapons License and requirements and active-shooter situations.

There also will be time for questions from class participants.

This classroom instruction/familiarization class will include no live-fire training.

Each class participant will receive one free safety gun lock.
